The application process for duPont Manual will begin November 3, 2008. This is when all the forms will be available for download at dupontmanual.com. All Optional and Magnet Program applications must be received in the JCPS Optional, Magnet, and Advance Programs Office, Lam Building, 4309 Bishop Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, (fax 485-3936), no later than January 8, 2010, to be considered for middle and high school placement for the 2008-2009 school year. Manual will NOT be accepting incomplete application packets. Please make sure that you have all required forms completed and turned in on time for acceptance consideration. Our 8th grade open house will be October 27th, 2009 from 5:30 - 8:00pm. Other Magnet specific materials are due to Manual by posted due dates, see Detailed Admissions Information.

Selection of Students

Students are selected to attend duPont Manual in a competitive process that evaluates achievement test scores, academic achievement, personal essays, teacher recommendations, as well as portfolios and performing arts auditions. Jefferson County residents are not charged tuition. Residency in Jefferson County is required for admission to duPont Manual High School. Applicants apply to their preferred magnet and application materials vary. YPAS applicants will be contacted for an audition. Helping Your Child Succeed at Manual

According to the Jefferson County Public Schools' Uniform Code of Student Conduct and the Student Bill of Rights, you need to:
  • Stress the importance of an education with your child.
  • Keep the school up to date on telephone numbers and address changes, medical problems, and family or social problems that may affect school performance.
  • Notify the school on the day your child is absent.
  • Send your child to school on time every day.
  • Send notes to school for excused absences.
  • Make sure your child has time, space, materials, and help for homework.
  • Be involved in what goes on in school and attend parent-teacher conferences.
  • Support the school's discipline measures and assist the school with discipline when needed.
  • Keep up to date with your child's progress, and review, sign, and return progress reports and report cards.
  • Make sure your child has current immunizations and required medical exams.
  • Expect your child to dress appropriately, follow the school's dress code, and practice good hygiene.
  • Expect your child to be responsible and respectful and to behave appropriately in school.
  • Pay required fees and fines (unless on fee waiver)
