What is Netiquette?

Netiquette is network etiquette, the do's and don'ts of online communication. Netiquette covers both common courtesy online and the informal "rules of the road" of cyberspace.

Safe Texting

  • Never Text and Drive-It can be dangerous to you and those around you.
  • Don't Sext-It can ruin someone's reputation and also be considered child pornography by the law.
  • Don't Text and Walk-This is important when walking in busy intersection so that you can avoid possible danger.
  • Think before you text-Poor judgment can lead to accidently hurting the reputation you or someone else.

Instant Messaging and Chat Room Safety

  • Help your kids during the registration process to insure privacy.
  • Help your kids create their own user list by ensuring they know those people in the 'real world'.
  • Don't let your child enter chat rooms where they can talk to strangers.
  • Teach them to never share their IM user names and passwords with others.
  • Report pornographic junk mail to the instant messaging service provider.
• Disable any file-sharing options between the IM program and the computer's hard drive.
  • Also avoid opening unknown links because they can lead to viruses.
