Bowling is in its third year at duPont Manual High School for boys and girls. The upcoming season looks to be promising for both teams. The boys are returning a strong core of bowlers from last season with the addition of at least one outstanding freshman and are poised for another competitive season. The girl’s team graduated 8 seniors last year and is building for the future.
This past season the Crimson Rams marked several noteworthy accomplishments in their second season. Senior Taylor Groft shot 287 in a match against Trinity. Sophomore Garrett Hillerich was voted to First Team All-City for the second year in a row. The boys won the Alpha conference with a city best record of 61-9 and the girls finished second with a record of 50.5 – 19.5. Both teams made it to the State Championship field of 16 for the first time.
The teams practice Friday and Saturday at our home center, Rose Bowl. Practice starts in early September with tryouts in mid-October where rosters will be set to 12 bowlers per team.
The regular season consists of 10 weeks of competitive action that starts in early December and culminates with a Conference tournament with regular season winners and tournament winners advancing to Regional play. Winners at the Regional level advance to a 16 team field for the State finals in March.
